Portable Voice and Push-to-Talk Communications

The BoxDock converts a compatible Iridium Extreme handset into a self-contained portable communications station. It supports standard satellite calling with the Iridium 9575 and push-to-talk group communications when used with an Iridium Extreme PTT handset and active Iridium PTT service. The supplied palm speaker microphone provides a more practical way to communicate in vehicles, temporary command locations, and busy field environments.

Fast Field Setup

The docking station, speaker microphone, battery, and connection panel are mounted within the hard case, reducing the number of separate components that must be assembled. The dual-mode magnetic antenna supports both Iridium and GPS connections and includes a 10-foot cable for placement outside a vehicle or field shelter. For dependable satellite reception, the antenna should be positioned with a clear view of the sky and horizon, preferably on a suitable metal ground plane.

Battery and External Power

An integrated rechargeable battery allows the BoxDock to operate without a separate field power pack. The system can also use an Iridium Extreme AC charger or vehicle DC charger, allowing the dock and installed phone to be charged together. An external charging indicator shows when the system is charging and when it is ready for use.

Protected Storage and Operation

The docking equipment is installed in a rugged, Peli-style hard case that helps protect the phone, dock, microphone, and accessories from impacts, dirt, and dust during transportation. Connections for power, audio, GPS, and Iridium antennas are accessible from the outside, allowing the case to remain closed while the system is operating. No formal IP water or dust rating is specified by the manufacturer.

Field and Mobile Applications

The BoxDock is suited to disaster-response teams, emergency services, remote workers, temporary field offices, mobile command posts, and crews that move between vehicles and work sites. Its compact all-in-one design provides a practical alternative to permanently installing a docking station in every location where satellite voice or PTT communications may be required.
