Compact Portable Configuration
This version places the DriveDOCK and supporting equipment inside Beam’s smaller Grab ‘N’ Go case. Measuring 318 × 257 × 152 mm, it is easier to carry and store than the large-case wireless kit while retaining the same core satellite PTT and voice capabilities.
Wireless Communication Away from the Case
The wireless speaker/microphone allows the operator to communicate without remaining beside the docked Iridium handset. With the external PTT antenna properly deployed, the handset can operate up to 500 m / 1,640 ft from the base unit. Actual range depends on terrain, structures, interference, and antenna placement.
Push-to-Talk and Standard Voice Support
The integrated DriveDOCK supports a compatible Iridium Extreme handset in either PTT mode or standard phone mode. Teams can use Iridium PTT for group communication and switch to conventional satellite voice calls when direct communication is needed. SMS, GPS, tracking, alerts, and Bluetooth functions may also be available in standard phone mode, depending on the handset and service configuration.
Clear Handheld Audio
The wireless unit combines a PTT button, microphone, and loudspeaker in a rugged handheld design. It provides stronger audio than relying on the satellite phone’s built-in speaker alone and includes a 3.5 mm connection for an optional earpiece.
External Antenna Setup
The included 5 m dual-mode antenna supports Iridium satellite communication and GPS reception. A separate external PTT antenna supports the wireless connection between the case and handset. The satellite antenna should be placed outdoors with a clear view of the sky, while the case can remain inside a vehicle or protected work area.
Field Applications
The small wireless kit is suited to operations where equipment must be moved frequently and storage space is limited. Common applications include mobile response teams, utility crews, transportation operations, mining sites, government agencies, and temporary field offices operating beyond cellular or terrestrial radio coverage.
