ACR Charger XLT Overnight Trickle Charger with MaxCap™ Battery

Charging Kit for the SR-103

The Charger XLT was designed for the rechargeable MaxCap battery used by the ACR SR-103 multichannel survival radio. The rechargeable pack allows the radio to be used for drills, inspections, and routine communications without consuming the sealed primary battery reserved for survival-craft emergencies.

This charger is not intended for the newer ACR SR203 radio or its lithium-polymer RB5V battery.

Overnight Trickle Charging

The XLT uses a low-rate trickle-charging process intended to recharge the MaxCap battery over an extended period. It is described by ACR as the overnight charging option for the SR-103, in contrast with the separate MaxCap fast charger, which charges the compatible battery in under three hours.

The slower charging method is suitable where rapid turnaround is not required and the battery can remain in the charger overnight.

Rechargeable MaxCap Battery Included

The kit includes the compatible rechargeable MaxCap battery pack. Dealer documentation identifies this as a nickel-cadmium, or NiCd, battery rather than a lithium battery.

The rechargeable battery is intended for regular operation and training. It does not replace the dedicated primary survival battery required for emergency readiness and applicable GMDSS carriage requirements.

115V AC Operation

ACR part number 2713 is the 115V version of the Charger XLT kit. It should be used only with a suitable 115V AC electrical supply unless an appropriately rated external power-conversion system is provided.

The input-voltage version should be checked carefully before ordering for vessels operating with 230V AC service.

Compatibility Should Be Confirmed

The Charger XLT belongs to the discontinued SR-103 radio platform and should be ordered only when maintaining an existing compatible radio. The radio model and battery configuration should be checked before purchase because current ACR GMDSS radios use different battery packs and charging equipment.
