Description
Hands-Free Microphone Placement
The HM-163MC clips to a shirt, jacket, or equipment strap, placing the microphone closer to the user’s voice. This provides a more convenient setup than repeatedly bringing the IC-SAT100 radio to the mouth during operation.
Optional Private Listening
The microphone includes a 2.5 mm earphone jack for connecting a compatible Icom earphone. Incoming audio can then be heard through the earphone instead of the radio’s speaker, which is useful in shared, public, or moderately noisy environments. The earphone is sold separately.
IC-SAT100 Compatibility
Icom lists the HM-163MC as compatible with the IC-SAT100 satellite PTT handheld. It connects through a 14-pin spring-type connector and has a straight 1 m / 39.4 in. cable.
Indoor and Protected Use
The HM-163MC does not have a published waterproof rating. When used with the IP67-rated IC-SAT100, the microphone should still be protected from rain, spray, and immersion.
