Iridium 9575 Extreme Battery (OEM)
Description
Replacement or Backup Power
Rechargeable batteries gradually lose capacity through age, repeated charging, and long periods of storage. Replacing a worn battery can restore more dependable operating time for an Iridium Extreme handset that no longer remains powered as long as expected.
A fully charged spare battery is also useful during remote trips, offshore work, emergency response, inspections, and other assignments where access to wall or vehicle power may be limited.
Talk and Standby Time
The battery supports up to 4 hours of talk time and up to 30 hours of standby time under suitable network and environmental conditions. Actual operating time varies based on call activity, signal strength, temperature, GPS use, messaging, and how often the phone searches for the satellite network.
Positioning the handset where it has a clear view of the sky can reduce repeated network searching and help conserve battery power.
Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Design
The battery uses rechargeable lithium-ion chemistry with a rated capacity of 2300 mAh, a nominal voltage of 3.7V, and stored energy of approximately 8.51 Wh. Its fitted design attaches directly to the rear of the handset without requiring tools.
It can be charged while installed in the phone using a compatible AC or vehicle charger. A supported external battery charger may also be used to charge a spare while the handset remains available with another battery.
Charging and Preparation
Charging through the handset takes approximately three hours under normal conditions. Charging time may increase when the phone is switched on or actively being used. For better charging performance, the battery should be charged between 0°C and 40°C.
A replacement or stored battery should be fully charged and tested before it is relied upon for travel, field deployment, or emergency communication.
Storage and Battery Care
The battery should be stored in a cool, dry location away from excessive heat, moisture, direct sunlight, and conductive objects that could contact its terminals.
Lithium-ion batteries gradually discharge while stored. Spare batteries kept in emergency kits should be inspected and recharged periodically rather than left unused for extended periods.
