Charging from a Vehicle or Vessel

The IsatPhone 2 DC Car Charger allows the handset battery to be replenished from a standard vehicle accessory socket. It is useful during long drives, offshore trips, remote assignments, and other situations where an AC wall outlet may not be available.

The compact charger can remain in a vehicle, vessel, satellite phone case, or emergency communication kit as a replacement or additional charging option.

Support for 12V and 24V Power Systems

The charger accepts an input range of 10–30V DC. This allows it to operate from many common 12V passenger vehicles and 24V commercial, marine, and heavy-equipment electrical systems.

It converts the available vehicle power to a regulated 5V DC, 1.2A output for charging the handset.

Direct Micro-USB Connection

An integrated Micro-USB connector plugs directly into the charging port on the IsatPhone 2. No separate charging cradle or battery charger is required.

The handset can remain powered on while connected, although active use may increase the time needed to complete a full charge.

Charging Time

A typical full fast charge takes approximately 3 hours and 15 minutes under normal conditions. The battery can reach approximately 90% capacity in around three hours when charged in the handset at a suitable temperature.

Actual charging time can vary with battery condition, handset activity, ambient temperature, and the stability of the vehicle power supply.

Two-Meter Cable

The integrated cable measures approximately 2 meters, or 6.7 feet. This provides flexibility when the vehicle outlet is located some distance from the preferred storage or operating position of the handset.

The cable should be routed where it will not become pinched by doors, seats, storage compartments, or other moving equipment.
