VHF and Satellite PTT Through One Intercom

The switch box allows a PCI intercom system to work with two external radios. A typical installation connects one input to a local VHF radio and the other to a compatible Iridium satellite PTT radio.

Crew members continue using their connected PCI headsets and push-to-talk controls rather than changing between separate microphones or handsets.

Monitor Both Radio Inputs

Audio from both connected radios can be heard through the intercom. The A/B selector determines which radio transmits when a user presses the intercom PTT button.

This allows a vehicle crew to monitor local VHF traffic while retaining access to Iridium PTT communication outside terrestrial radio coverage.

Independent Microphone Gain Adjustment

Separate microphone gain controls allow the outgoing audio level to be adjusted for each connected radio. This helps balance equipment with different input sensitivities and prevents one radio connection from being noticeably louder or quieter than the other.

PCI Intercom Compatibility

The switch box is intended for PCI Comlink 10 and compatible PCI Elite intercom systems. Older PCI Com 6 installations require additional components and should be reviewed before ordering.

The appropriate radio interface cables are required to connect the selected VHF and Iridium PTT devices. PCI also confirms the switch can be used with the Icom IC-SAT100 Iridium PTT radio when the correct interface cable is installed.

Vehicle and Field Communication Use

The system is suited to off-road vehicles, support trucks, mobile command units, field teams, and other operations that use local VHF communication but also require satellite PTT access beyond repeater or terrestrial network coverage.

The switch box does not provide satellite service by itself. A compatible Iridium PTT radio, antenna arrangement, active service plan, VHF radio, PCI intercom, and required cables are sold separately.
