Desktop Voice and PTT Communication

The SatStation Extreme Desktop Dock PTT provides a fixed-style operating position for an Iridium Extreme PTT handset. Users can access the phone controls while it is docked and communicate through either the loudspeaker or privacy handset.

Its desktop format is useful in:

• Emergency operations and command centers
• Remote offices and field camps
• Dispatch and coordination stations
• Home or business backup communication setups
• Temporary locations where permanent mounting is not practical

Hands-Free or Private Calling

The dock supports full-duplex hands-free communication, allowing both participants to speak naturally without repeatedly switching between transmit and receive. Echo cancellation and background-noise filtering help maintain clearer audio during office discussions or conference-style calls.

Lifting the privacy handset answers an incoming call, while returning it to the cradle ends the call. Activating the handset mutes hands-free operation so conversations can continue privately.

Audible Incoming Calls

A built-in loudspeaker makes incoming calls easier to hear in offices and operational workspaces. The dock also supports an optional second external speaker where additional audio coverage is needed.

Phone Charging and Readiness

The Iridium handset battery charges while the phone is installed in the dock. This keeps the phone available for desktop operation while helping ensure it is charged when it needs to be removed and used as a portable handset.

External Antenna Installation

Like other fixed Iridium docking systems, the desktop dock must be connected to a suitable external Iridium antenna with a clear view of the sky when operated indoors. Antenna and cable requirements should be selected according to the building layout, cable distance, and installation environment.
