Cobham Explorer 8100 (5W BUC)
Description
Reliable Broadband for Mobile Field Operations
The EXPLORER 8100 is engineered for organizations that require dependable broadband connectivity from temporary or mobile locations. Operating over Ku-band satellite networks, it supports internet access, secure VPN connections, VoIP communications, video conferencing, live broadcasting, cloud applications, and operational data transfer where terrestrial infrastructure is unavailable.
Whether deployed for disaster response, military operations, public safety, or field engineering, the system provides dependable satellite communications within minutes of arrival.
Dynamic Pointing Correction
Traditional "communications-on-the-pause" antennas often lose their satellite connection when vehicles move slightly because of wind, uneven terrain, or personnel entering and exiting the vehicle. The EXPLORER 8100 addresses this with Cobham's Dynamic Pointing Correction technology, which continuously compensates for minor vehicle movement to maintain a stable satellite link.
This technology helps reduce service interruptions and improves communication reliability during critical operations.
Fast Deployment with Automatic Acquisition
The terminal is designed for rapid setup in the field. Automatic satellite acquisition, integrated GPS, and a web-based user interface allow operators to deploy the system quickly with minimal manual adjustment. Built-in Wi-Fi also enables convenient configuration and monitoring from a laptop, tablet, or smartphone.
The antenna's swappable feed system also allows future conversion between supported Ku-band, Ka-band, and Inmarsat GX configurations using optional conversion kits, helping extend the system's operational flexibility.
Built for Demanding Environments
The EXPLORER 8100 features a lightweight carbon fiber reflector and rugged mechanical design built to withstand frequent transport and outdoor deployments. Precision polarization control, harmonic drive gear systems, and inclined-orbit satellite tracking help maintain reliable performance across a variety of satellite networks and operating conditions.
